Most lobotomy procedures were done in the United States, where approximately 40,000 persons were lobotomized. In Great Britain lobotomies were performed on 17,000 people, and the three Nordic countries of Finland, Norway and Sweden had a combined figure of approximately 9,300 lobotomies….  The USSR officially banned the procedure in 1950. Walt: “And what may be the subject of your sermon tomorrow?

Corning: “My subject? Why—the tragedy of the ages.”

Walt: “And what may be the tragedy of the ages?”

Corning: “The crucifixion.”

Walt: “What crucifixion?”

Corning: “The crucifixion of Jesus, of course.”

Walt: “You call that the tragedy of the ages?”

Corning: “Yes—what do you call it?”
